From the time I was a wee toddler, I was shoving in the sweeties like the cookie monster love his cookies!





We all know that there’s nothing wrong with a few sweet treats now and then, but if you’re anything like me, there was no such things as moderation when it comes to the sweet stuff!

If someone put a cake down in front of me, you’d better move outta my way sister, coz I would fight you for it!

Sugar and all things “snacky” were my kryptonite.

Between the chips and the sugar buns my days passed by in a haze of chocolaty goodness. Until they didn’t.


Emotional eating is sneaky.

You tell yourself you’re in control.

You promise you’ll only have one bite.

You bargain with yourself and find eighteen new reasons why you must eat that double fudge brownie immediately.

But eventually, that whole “what goes around comes around” thing catches up with you.


One day you’re sure you’ve got this emotional eating thing under control and the next, you wake up to find your butt is the size of a small country and you wonder what went wrong?


So what’s a gal supposed to do?

Ditch the fad diets and let’s make this emotional eating gig a distant memory!

Ditch the Refined Sugars

I’m all about keeping it real… real food, that is!

That nasty white stuff is addictive and it is NOT helpful to have it in house.

Tell me, how many times did you buy something sweet from the shop, promising yourself you’ll make it last X number of days, only to demolish it four minutes after you get home?

And then how good did you feel about yourself, hmmm?

White sugar has been heat treated, chemically “purified” and bleached leaving it temptingly sweet, but void of nutrition.

It sends our blood sugar levels skyrocketing and causes (queue horrified gasp) PREMATURE AGING.

Ditch it, baby!

Check the labels for the following ingredients: fructose, maltose, sugar, glucose and dextrose. If it contains refined sugar, ditch it!


Switch It Up

But don’t worry; I’m not leaving you stranded. Stock up your kitchen with these healthy alternatives: Medjool dates, honey, coconut sugar, brown rice syrup, maple syrup and fresh fruit (especially frozen bananas. Yummo!)

There is so much you can do with natural, whole foods that you won’t believe you didn’t know about it earlier!

Got a hankering for some ice cream? Top frozen bananas with fresh medjool dates, honey and coconut yoghurt for a slice of tropical heaven or blend frozen berries with a splash of coconut milk and cacao powder to create a Choc, Berry Bliss Smoothie!


And finally…


Stress Less and Get Support

Okay, so that’s really two points, but still…

Do you dive face first into the nearest bowl of frosted cake batter when life throws a little drama your way? The more we stress, the more we crave some kind of “quick fix”. Something to relive the pain of whatever it is we’re trying so desperately not to feel.

Reducing the stress is the quickest way to reduce the cravings BUT it’s not a magic bullet. You will STILL need to get a support system in place if you really want to kick that emotional eating in the butt!

Here’s the thing, lovely… you can go it alone. But honestly, it’s just so much harder that I think why even bother! Support was the missing link when I was battering emotional eating. It was the number one thing I needed to guide me and give me the tools I needed to move forward.
