are you still stopping and starting your diet?

“I ate a cookie. I’ve messed up my diet.

I might as well binge.

And I’ll start again tomorrow”

Are you still stopping and starting your diet?

LINE-NEW-MEDIUM- EVEN

Do you think that one bite of chocolate has the power to undo weeks and weeks of working out and making great food choices?

I’ve got one word for you (well, actually three), that information is…

SO NOT TRUE.

That Voice, the one who tells you that you’ve “ruined everything” with the sniff of a cinnamon roll, is the very same Voice who will cajole you into eating it in the first place!

And you’re not alone here, I’m feeling the struggle as well.

I’ve been sitting here this afternoon listening to The Voice in my head…

What’s wrong with me?

Why don’t I want to eat healthy today?

Maybe if I eat aaaaaall the muesli slice in the freezer then it won’t be there to tempt me tomorrow?

Seriously… it’s like , what the??!!

And then I get tired of the struggle and The Voice starts again…

I can’t do this anymore.

It’s exhausting.

Perhaps I should eat the frozen TV dinners, the dry cookie mix, those stale crackers that I saw in the top shelf of the pantry and “start again” tomorrow.

Double what the??!!

Are you still stopping and starting your diet?

If you are, here’s two reasons for this funky behaviour…

Reason 1

Our behaviour is meeting a need and until we uncover the need that our behaviour and beliefs around food are meeting, the behaviour will continue to hang around.

Reason 2

Because the diet industry has told us that there is definitely a quick fix solution out there for you, you just don’t have the will power to stick to one of them long enough to reap the rewards.

Reason 1 is on the money but Reason 2 ain’t even a little bit true. Not even a little smidge.

Life gets messy and sometimes we need and chocolate to see us though but all times we have the power to look inside and discover what it is that we’re really craving.

Chocolate? Maybe.

Cinnamon rolls? Perhaps.

But more than likely it’s some time out. Or kindness. Or understanding. Take your pick. We need ’em all.

And sometimes it IS exhausting. And sometimes it does feel all too much, but it isn’t.

But as long as we keep placing the focus of our pain onto our body and our weight we will never know or understand what we’re really craving.

Are you feelin’ me?

What does The Voice in your head say to your to get you stopping and starting a new weight loss gig every week?

Let me know in the comments below and share with a friend for extra good karma!

Remember, the only person who has the power to change your life is you.

You’ve got what it takes.

Big love,
Kylie
