My Daily Routine For Real Success
Everybody’s looking for the secret to Real Success. Including me.
I mean, it must be out there, right? There must be a way to say ‘no’ to pizza without wanting to gouge your own eyes out with pepperoni crust, isn’t there?
Recently, I decided that I am so DONE with feeling like a superhero when I choose the salad over the burger and feeling like a FAT FRUMP when I choose the cheesecake over the fruit platter.
Seriously? WTF is up with that? Food is FOOD. It’s not a personal declaration of your worthiness to take up space on planet earth! And as long as you believe that it is, you will never be free to enjoy it.
Not in this lifetime. Or the next.
Am I saying you should just throw in the towel and eat whatever you want? Yes. Yes I am. On one condition…
You get present and ask yourself a few questions first. Starting with…
1. Who Do You Want To Be?
The kind of woman who can’t stand to be with herself so she eats to be somewhere else? The kind of woman who eats food that they know they will regret but they would rather EAT and not think about it than NOT EAT and think about it? The kind of woman who puts escaping their own pain above stopping long enough to realise that, when all is said and done, it was never really there to start with.
Spoiler Alert… if you’re reading this, then I already know you’re the kind of woman who’s had enough of that to last a lifetime and you’re ready for the secret to REAL success. Which leads to my personal two pronged approach…
Stop fooling yourself and Keep it real.
Eat food that makes you feel good, in an amount you feel good about and do it consistently. Especially when you don’t want to.
2. Stop Fooling Yourself
And just what, pray-tell, does that mean? It means, EAT food that makes you feel good in your body and about your self. Listen, my little chocolate crackle, I would loooove to tell you that I’ve discovered a magic pill, anointed by the weight loss god’s and coming soon to a store near you. But I haven’t. Because it doesn’t exist.
That magic pill you’ve been trying to find inside the Hershey’s wrapper? It’s not there. But that doesn’t mean you can’t wave a sweet “bye bye” to this emotional eating nightmare.
Put your own oxygen mask on first. Eat the foods you REALLY want. NOT the sh*tty substitutes you tell yourself you want, while the REAL DEAL stuff that lights you up gets eaten by everyone but YOU.
Do I mean you should eat the cheesy crust pizza? Yup. The Smores? Peanut butter? Bread? KRISPY KREMES?!! Yes, yes, yes and YES. If you really want it, EAT IT. But there is a caveat (c’mon, you knew it was coming)…
Eat what you want in an amount that feels good to you AND your body.
If you feel good eating 5 litres of ice cream, go for it. But if you suspect you might feel just a tad sick, then slow down, sister. This is not a competition to see how much you can cram in between now and your next diet. You’re free. And what’s more, you always were.
Which leads me to the second part of your daily routine for real success …
2. Keep It Real
Thinking that your success (aka, happiness) rests on you getting it ‘perfect’ is so not a thing, it’s almost invisible. Stopping and starting will never get you from the place you are now to where you want to be. N.E.V.E.R.
All perfectionism does is create a huge-ass distraction to keep you from ever reaching your goals.
But the worst part?
The worst part is that you FOOL YOURSELF into THINKING that you really are doing something, because after all, your face collided with the office cookie tin this morning and the kids want to eat McDonalds and how can you be expected to sit there and not at least taste the french fries because maybe they taste different from when you ate them last week and besides… you can always start again on Monday.
Keeping it real means keeping it REAL. Sometimes you feel good about what you ate and sometimes? Not so much. It’s not hard. It’s not difficult. It’s called ‘real life’ and thinking you can squish it into a neat little box so you can get your diet ‘perfect’ so you can ‘be skinny’ is also, not a thing.
You want a routine for MASSIVE success? Eat what you really want, when you’re really hungry, and stop when you’ve had enough.
That’s it. Stay focused and don’t lose sight of your vision. Others may not see it. That’s ok. It’s not their vision, it’s YOURS and only YOU can bring it to life.
Of course, if you’re really SERIOUS about kicking emotional eating for the New Year, then you’ll want to check out Sexy Motivation Tribe.
If you know you need to kick the ass of resistance, procrastination & self sabotage but you just can’t seem to keep the momentum going, then the first thing to do is to stop PRETENDING that tomorrow will be any different from today.
Does this sound familiar…
You binge in the car
The closet (yup, time to come out, baby)
ANYWHERE you won’t be seen because after all, you feel so pathetic you can hardly face YOURSELF, let alone ANYONE ELSE, and
You’re mad at yourself
You’re mad at your body
And you just can’t seem to find the motivation to change it?
You really can finally create a body & a life that is sexier than a hot fudge sundae!
So what’s it going to be? Another year of “I’ll start again next Monday?” or will you take the leap and COMMIT to a life that oozes with peace around food?
Oodles of chocolate coated love!
